About me

Who I am & how I think

I'm a Java backend engineer and Technical Lead with 3.5+ years at Comviva Technologies — India's leading telecom technology company and a Tech Mahindra company. I've grown from a junior engineer to Technical Lead, owning increasingly complex systems end-to-end along the way.

My deepest expertise is in event-driven, distributed microservices architecture — Apache Kafka for high-throughput async messaging, gRPC for low-latency inter-service communication, Hazelcast for distributed caching, and Spring Boot as the backbone of every service. I've designed and operated systems that process millions of subscriber events daily.

"Motivated and detail-oriented engineer recognised four times by Comviva leadership — including the Impact Icon Award — for impact, growth mindset, exceptional performance, and outstanding team collaboration — OVATIONS Rewards and Recognition Program, FY 2025–26."

I take engineering quality seriously: Low-Level Design documents before touching code, 100% code and design reviews for my team, structured root cause analysis for every production incident, and proactive monitoring rather than reactive firefighting.

B.Tech in Information Technology from AKTU (CGPA 8.26) · 500+ LinkedIn connections · 12 verified credentials across HackerRank, Udemy, Internshala, and Comviva.

What I've shipped in production

Four mission-critical backend systems powering real-time marketing for millions of telecom subscribers — all built, owned, and optimised end-to-end.

PROJECT 01 · FLAGSHIP PRODUCT
📡
Mobilytix Realtime Marketing
MRTM — Real-time offer decisioning platform

Comviva's flagship real-time marketing platform, live with multiple telecom operators internationally (AT&T, Optus, Vodafone, IOH and more). MRTM watches subscriber behaviour as it happens — recharges, usage, purchases, app events — and reacts within seconds with the right personalised offer on the right channel. The hard part isn't any single feature: it's sustaining millions of events per day through a multi-stage decisioning pipeline at sub-second latency and 99.9% uptime — with Hazelcast and an in-memory database (VoltDB up to v7.11.1, SingleStore from v7.12.2 onward) keeping hot subscriber and campaign state in memory. I worked across five major versions (v5.6 → v7.11.1 → v7.12.2 → v8.1.2 → v8.3.0) and both in-memory databases through the platform's migration, growing from feature development to owning 100% of the SDLC, and led version upgrades for live operators without service disruption.

Pipeline: Event ingestion (event processor normalises source payloads → Kafka) → Trigger evaluation (ERED rule engine decides campaign qualification in real time) → Journey execution (ECMP orchestrates multi-step journeys: communication, wait, condition steps) → Multi-channel delivery with provider feedback → Reporting & LiveMetrics via ETL.
35% system performance improvement — via load testing, JVM profiling, SQL query optimisation, and Kafka consumer throughput tuning.
40% reduction in production incidents — via Grafana dashboards, proactive alerting, and structured 5-Why root cause analysis.
Millions of transactions per day at 99.9% system uptime across multiple live operator environments.
20+ Change Requests delivered at 100% First-Time-Right — zero rework cycles across all client deliveries.
Worked across the full platform — trigger & campaign execution (ERED), journey orchestration (ECMP / move customer), event pipeline, multi-channel notifications, and reporting/LiveMetrics.

📲
Just For You (J4U)
USSD-based real-time offer interface

The subscriber-facing front door to MRTM's personalised offers: a customer dials a USSD short code and browses an interactive menu of offers picked for them at that moment — no smartphone, no app, no data connection required. USSD is what makes personalised marketing reach every subscriber, including feature-phone users in emerging markets — and it's also what makes the engineering hard: USSD gateways time out fast, so every menu screen must render in under 200ms end-to-end, including a live gRPC call to MRTM.

Stateless protocol, stateful conversation — USSD gives one request/response at a time, but subscribers navigate multi-screen menus (browse → select → confirm). Session state lives in Hazelcast, so any node can serve the next screen.
25% improvement in API response time after systematic profiling and targeted service optimisation.
Real-time offer retrieval via gRPC + Kafka integration with MRTM — sub-200ms end-to-end sustained under load.
Multiple wallet payment support — subscribers pay for selected offers through their choice of mobile-money wallet, with wallet selection and payment confirmation inside the same USSD session.
Back option on every menu — backward navigation in a protocol with no concept of "back": a menu-history stack in the Hazelcast session lets subscribers step back through screens without restarting the flow.
Closed-loop offer fulfilment — on confirmation, J4U triggers offer allocation in MRTM and the acceptance event feeds back into the subscriber's campaign journey, so every conversion updates journey state in real time.
Multilingual rendering + high concurrency — per-subscriber language templates, thousands of simultaneous menu sessions during campaign pushes, no sticky sessions needed.
Request flow: Subscriber dials → USSD Gateway → Spring Boot service → gRPC to MRTM for live offers → Hazelcast for session state (incl. menu-history stack) → menu rendered <200ms → offer selected → wallet payment → Kafka for async event logging

PROJECT 03
🔀
Integration Gateway (CUIG)
Centralised upstream/downstream integration hub

A centralised integration gateway sitting between the telecom product suite and every external system it talks to — upstream sources sending events in, downstream fulfilment, notification, and operator systems receiving calls out. External systems all speak different formats and protocols (XML/JSON, sync/async, different auth); CUIG normalises all of that behind one hub, so product services integrate once and per-partner differences live in configuration. Before CUIG, every new integration meant custom code, a build, and a deployment — now it's a config entry.

90% reduction in deployment effort — integration turnaround dropped from a development sprint to a configuration task.
Dual-protocol in one gateway: synchronous HTTP (request/response) + asynchronous Kafka (event-driven), chosen per integration via config.
XSLT transformation engine — per-integration message mapping (XML ↔ JSON, field renames, structure reshaping) defined as config, not code.
Consul-backed service discovery & dynamic config — endpoints, routing, transformations, and retry behaviour picked up without redeployment.
Resilience built in — retries, error handling, and failure visibility for every integration flow.
Modules (independently deployable microservices): GUI + Config Service (define integrations — endpoints, mappings, routing) · Gateway Service (sync HTTP entry/exit) · Event Processor (async Kafka flows) · Interactive Service (session-style request/response) · Fulfilment Service (outbound downstream calls) · User Service (authentication & access control).

PROJECT 04 · END-TO-END OWNERSHIP
🎟️
Coupon Management System
CMS — Coupon lifecycle platform · HLD/LLD to production

A coupon lifecycle platform for telecom marketing campaigns covering the full journey of a coupon — campaign setup, bulk coupon generation, allocation, reservation, redemption, and expiry. Coupons are awarded to subscribers through marketing campaigns and redeemed across channels, making correctness under concurrency — no double-redemption, no over-allocation — the core design problem. Owned end-to-end from HLD and LLD through development, SIT/UAT, and production rollout.

Authored the complete HLD & LLD — component architecture, sequence flows for every lifecycle transition, ER model, interface contracts, and capacity estimates.
State-machine-driven lifecycle — generated → allocated → reserved → redeemed / expired / cancelled — no invalid transition possible.
Idempotent, concurrency-safe redemption — duplicate requests and race conditions handled at design level, preventing double-redemption at scale.
Config-driven validation rules — per-subscriber limits, validity windows, channel eligibility; new coupon types onboarded without code changes.
Full audit trail of every coupon state change via Kafka — for reconciliation, reporting, and dispute handling.
Ownership: HLD → LLD → development → SIT/UAT → production deployment → post-release monitoring — the full engineering lifecycle owned by one hand. REST APIs serve campaign systems and redemption channels; scheduled jobs handle expiry processing and campaign-owner reporting.

AI & agentic engineering

AI agents I've built

I build AI agents that automate real engineering workflows — using Claude Code, Atlassian Rovo, agent skills, and prompt engineering. Three agents currently in production use.

AGENT 01 · TEST AUTOMATION
🧪
AutoTest Agent
AI-powered Java unit-test generation agent

A Claude Code agent that takes any Java class, package, or acceptance criteria and generates a complete JUnit 5 + Mockito + AssertJ test suite — placed in the correct mirrored src/test/java structure, following the project's existing test conventions. It doesn't stop at generation: it compiles and runs the tests and fixes its own failures until the suite is green, so what lands in the repo is verified working code, not a draft to debug.

Four invocation modes — single class, whole package, diff-only (test just what changed before an MR), or straight from a story's acceptance criteria.
Self-verifying loop — generate → compile → run → fix, repeating until every test passes; mocks collaborators (Kafka producers, repositories, gRPC clients) correctly out of the box.
Real coverage, not boilerplate — happy paths, edge cases, boundary values, and exception flows derived from the actual code and requirements.
Hours of test-writing per class reduced to minutes — a compiling, passing suite generated in one run.
Effort saved: Engineers no longer hand-write test scaffolding — that time goes into feature logic and design. The diff mode made "tests included" the default for every MR, and coverage quality became consistent across the team instead of depending on who wrote it.
Claude CodeAI AgentJUnit 5MockitoAssertJPrompt Engineering
AGENT 02 · DEFECT TRIAGE
🐞
BUG Review Agent
Rovo-based Jira defect-quality gate for MRTM bugs

An Atlassian Rovo agent wired into Jira automation that reviews every incoming bug ticket for triage readiness — checking problem statement, reproduction steps, expected vs actual behaviour, environment, evidence (transaction IDs, logs, payloads, screenshots), and impact against an MRTM-specific checklist. No incomplete defect reaches engineering without the right evidence.

Structured COMPLETE / INCOMPLETE verdict with an exact list of missing evidence — ends clarification ping-pong.
Jira automation integration — complete bugs auto-assigned by client, transitioned to In Analysis, and routed to the likely component team.
2–3 rounds of clarification comments per incomplete bug eliminated — evidence gaps caught at creation, not mid-investigation.
Effort saved: Engineers previously spent days per defect chasing transaction IDs, logs, CAM IDs, and reproduction steps before debugging could start. Now they open a ticket and investigate immediately — and manual triage dispatch is eliminated entirely by client-based auto-assignment.
Atlassian RovoAI AgentJira AutomationDefect TriagePrompt Engineering
AGENT 03 · CODE REVIEW
🔍
Code Review Agent
AI merge-request reviews integrated in GitLab

An AI code-review agent integrated into GitLab, reviewing every merge request automatically — so the first review a developer gets is thorough, immediate, and consistent. It reviews the diff in context (how changed lines interact with surrounding code, not just the lines themselves) and posts findings directly on the MR as inline comments anchored to the exact lines, so developers fix issues in place like any other review thread.

Four review dimensions — correctness (logic bugs, edge cases, concurrency hazards), design & standards (SOLID, clean architecture), performance (N+1 queries, blocking calls), and test coverage for changed behaviour.
Severity-ranked findings — critical issues surface first, not a wall of nitpicks; the review bar is the same on every MR regardless of which human reviewer is available.
First-pass feedback in minutes instead of hours or days — bugs and standards violations fixed before human review begins.
Effort saved: Human reviewers no longer police style and nit-level issues — they spend their review time on design and architecture decisions, and MRs reach merge-ready state in fewer review cycles.
